offers an efficient means of power generation with minimal regulatory difficulties
and only minimal construction.
Hydro power generation goes back as far as the water wheel and is
one of mankinds earliest power generation technologies. Modern
day hydrogenerators utilize water behind a dam to create head, where
the combination of head and flow determines the power output of the
turbine. Instream tidal generators, however, capture the untapped
power found in open channel water flow due to the changing tides.
